Exchange of experience: Ukrainian communities visited Poland

At the end of May, 19 communities from 7 regions of Ukraine (including Koryukivka community) visited communes of the Lesser Poland region of the Republic of Poland.

The purpose of the visit is to study the work experience of municipalities on the way to the EU, implementation of European laws, rules and regulations.

The Polish practice of organizing communal enterprises, energy self-sufficiency and the implementation of innovative solutions in the provision of social services turned out to be particularly interesting and important for our community.

We also drew attention to the fact that the development of Polish communes depends not only on funding from EU funds, but also on the institutional capacity of local self-government workers in project activities, the political will of mayors and deputies to set priorities correctly, as well as on the cohesion of residents.

The best practices of Polish self-government will be applied in the activities of the Koryukivka City Council. This issue was discussed at the meeting of the working group on the development and control of the implementation of strategic documents of the community. The strategy for the development of the Koryukivka community was developed in cooperation with Polish experts within the framework of the DOBRE Program, based on the principles of building a sustainable development policy of priorities, which are based on the advantages of the community, taking into account vulnerable parties.

For example, the main priority of the community is to develop medicine, and today it enables our residents to receive a wide range of local services.

Of course, Ukrainian communities have to make up for lost time in many areas, but in Ukrainians also have a lot to learn. Our entrepreneurs in Poland are almost always best service, technology and adaptability.

The event is organized and implemented jointly with the Jerzy Regulski Foundation for the Development of Local Democracy (FRDL MISTiA, Poland) within the USAID DOBRE Program.
