The body of local self-government on the territory of settlements of the Koryukiv urban territorial community of Chernihiv region is the city council, which carries out its activities in accordance with the Laws of Ukraine "On Local Self-Government in Ukraine", "On Voluntary Unification of Territorial Communities", the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On Defining administrative centers and approval of territories of territorial communities of Chernihiv region".
The current composition of the city council was elected at the first local council elections on October 25, 2020, in which almost 43% of voters participated. The elections were held on the territory of Koryukivska city, Biloshytska-Slobidska, Okhramievytska, Perelyubska, Prybynska, Rybynska and Shyshkivska rural territorial communities.
A new one entered into force on January 1, 2020Electoral Code,which changed the rules of elections to local councils.
In local councils with a population of more than 10,000 residents, voting took place according to open lists and the updated proportional system, without self-nomination of candidates. Deputies will go to parties that overcome the 5% barrier.

The number of voters' votes is 1,289; percentage of voters' votes - 19.24; the number of deputy mandates is 6.
- Koryukiv local organization of Oleg Lyashko's Radical Party:
Number of voters' votes - 545; percentage of voters' votes - 8.13; the number of deputy mandates is 3.
- CHERNIGIV REGIONAL ORGANIZATION OF THE "NASH DIM" POLITICAL PARTY:
Number of voters' votes - 447; percentage of voters' votes - 6.67; the number of deputy mandates is 3.
- CHERNIGHI REGIONAL ORGANIZATION OF THE "OPPOSITION PLATFORM - ZA ZHITIA" POLITICAL PARTY:

Number of voters' votes - 395; percentage of voters' votes - 5.89; the number of deputy mandates is 2.
The Koryukiv City Council of the seventh convocation consists of 26 deputies.

In the elections of October 25, 2020, Ratan Akhmedov was elected mayor of the city by a general popular vote. The elections of the mayor were held according to the majoritarian electoral system of the relative majority in a single single-mandate electoral district. 3 candidates were registered for the position of mayor. 6,360 votes were cast for Ratan Ratanovych Akhmedov, i.e. 89.72 percent.
