FAO will provide cereal seeds to support farmers during the autumn sowing campaign

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with the financial support of the Governments of Japan and Norway, is implementing a program to support small farmers during the autumn sowing campaign of 2023. Applications for participation in the program are accepted through the State Agrarian Register until July 20, 2023.

The program is implemented in nine regions of Ukraine most affected by the war, namely Sumy, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Odesa regions. Within the framework of the program, each selected farmer will receive 2 tons of winter crop seeds, enough to sow 10 hectares of land. Applicants can choose one of two winter crops: wheat or barley.

Only natural persons-entrepreneurs and natural persons who carry out their activities in the above-mentioned areas and own or rent agricultural land with an area of 5 to 100 hectares can participate in the program.

Please note that participation in this program is dependent on timely funding from partners and availability of seeds from local suppliers. Applying for this program does not guarantee that assistance will be provided.

The application deadline is July 20, 2023.
