On October 24, specialists of the Koryukiv city-district department of the Chernihiv Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Koryukiv Center of Family Medicine
carried out planned vaccination of the adult population of the village of Domashlin against diphtheria and tetanus. In total, it was possible to vaccinate 42 residents of the village.
Vaccination was carried out free of charge as part of the National Immunization Program. According to the Vaccination Calendar, adults need to renew the tetanus and diphtheria vaccination every 10 years.
We remind you that the only way to protect yourself from tetanus is vaccination. Immunity is not formed after the disease, and there is a possibility of re-infection, so vaccination is necessary.
Information
Tetanus is an acute infectious disease caused by bacteria living in the soil and intestinal tract of animals, which enter the body through damaged skin or mucous membranes of humans.
You can get infected with tetanus when dirt gets into a wound or cut, as a result of animal bites or trauma with sharp objects, wood fragments. This disease is not transmitted from person to person. Symptoms of tetanus can appear from the 1st day after the injury to 4 weeks. Almost 100% of elderly and younger patients die without treatment. However, even with optimal treatment, mortality from tetanus can reach 20-25%.
By refusing vaccination, you are putting your life and health at risk.
