Every year on December 14, Ukraine thanks liquidators - people who gave their lives and health to save our planet from a terrible man-made disaster which happened on April 26, 1986 at the Chornobyl NPP.
Back in 1986, the people of Koryukivka also stood up to protect the planet from a "peaceful" atom that got out of control. Today, the townspeople gathered at the memorial to personally thank the fellow liquidators and honor the memory of those who passed away with a moment of silence.
Despite all the risks to their own lives and health, liquidators saved the world for future generations. Therefore, our task is to remember the bitter lessons of Chernobyl in order to prevent their repetition in the future.
