Every year on February 15, Ukraine honors the participants of hostilities on the territory of other states.
The date was officially established in Ukraine on February 11, 2004 by a decree of the President of Ukraine to replace the Soviet Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers.
More than 160,000 Ukrainians passed through the Soviet-Afghan war — about 25% of the total number of Soviet military personnel. More than 3,000 of them died, dozens are considered missing or captured. More than 8,000 Ukrainians were injured (according to other data, more than 11,000), of which 4,687 returned home with disabilities.
On this day in Koryukivka, flowers were placed at the memorial sign as a sign of respect for the Ukrainians whose lives were taken and continue to be taken by the imperial policy of the so-called russia.
