They will help children and parents from war-affected communities to overcome the emotional and psychological consequences of the experience.
These are the main tasks of the project "Psychological support of children and adults in the conditions of war in the communities of Chernihiv region", which is carried out by the "Public Initiatives of Ukraine" Union, within the framework of the CLEAR program.
On June 13, representatives of the Union "Public Initiatives of Ukraine" Nelya Lavrinenko and Pavlo Pushchenko held a meeting with the head of the community Ratan Akhmedov and representatives of the Koryukivka community. During the meeting, a presentation of the main tasks of the project took place, directions of interaction between the public organization and the local self-government body regarding the implementation of the project were discussed.
In particular, as part of the implementation of the project, it is planned to equip art therapy rooms in the villages of Oleksandrivka, Savinki and Syadryne. The rooms will be equipped with modern furniture and all the necessary equipment and materials for arts and crafts. Also, local schools will receive recreational sports kits for conducting relaxation classes with students of starosty districts.
At the same time, teachers and psychologists of the Koryukivka community will undergo professional training to master new methods of providing psychological support using art therapy techniques.
“It is important that every child and adult who is in a state of distress have the opportunity to receive psychological support, to feel calm and able to cope with a difficult situation and make informed decisions. This is exactly what will be helped by art therapy methods, which will be worked with by teachers and psychologists of local schools trained by us." – says project manager Nelya Lavrynenko.
It should be noted that in the Koryukivka community in 2023, similar rooms became operational in the villages of Naumivka, Perelyub and in Koryukivka itself.
In general, by the end of 2024, the project plans to provide psychological support through art therapy for at least 500 children and 600 adults.
In addition to the Koryukivka community, the Mena, Kholmy, Ivanivka and Sosnytsa communities of the Chernihiv region also participate in the project.
